This course is designed for individuals seeking certification as fire protection inspecting and testing technicians, responsible for inspecting and testing fire extinguishers, fire blankets, emergency exit lighting, and fire smoke doors. As a result, it provides comprehensive and valuable training to become a professional in this field. Our course is not just about theoretical knowledge. It's about developing practical competencies that are directly applicable to your work. This means you'll be equipped with the skills you need to excel in your role. The focus is on units required for the FPAS Qualified Accreditation test and inspection categories 7. Portable fire equipment and fire hose reels, 8. Fire and smoke doors, 10. Exit and emergency lighting, as well as the entry qualification and units related to measures for Fire Safety Assessors' Qualified Accreditation.
Program Outline
Blended Learning is a teaching method that integrates technology-based online learning with traditional instructor-led face-to-face classroom activities and practical tasks.
Course Delivery Options Face-to-Face TrainingDelivered in a single 4-day block (8:30am – 4:00pm).Small class sizes (max. 8) ensure a high-quality learning experience. Virtual ClassroomLive online sessions over a 4-day block (9:00am – 3:00pm) using platforms like Zoom.Engaging real-time training with a qualified instructor guiding you through the course. Online LearningSelf-paced online study through our Learning Management System (LMS).Includes research, interactive quizzes, templates, and assessments based on real industry tasks.
Practical TasksYou'll complete a range of practical activities to demonstrate industry-standard skills. These tasks are integrated into both in-person and virtual courses, with some completed in the workplace. Students have up to 12 months to finalise workplace-based tasks.
Workplace Evidence Requirements:
20 fire hose reel inspections across 5+ sites (5 must be in recessed cabinets)
10 fire extinguishers (1 each: water, dry chemical, CO₂, wet chemical, foam)
5 fire blankets across 2 buildings
20 fire/smoke doors over 2 sites
30 emergency light fittings or exit signs across 5 sites
Note: Some tasks are completed during face-to-face training.

The training and assessment rules for nationally recognised units/qualifications are available on training.gov.au. All registered training organisations develop their own training and assessment materials, which must meet these rules. When sourcing a training provider, it is always prudent to investigate whether the provider adheres to training package rules and standards for RTO’s 2015. Be aware that non-compliance may result in your qualification/certificate being cancelled, particularly where providers take shortcuts with assessment tasks.
